The Salone del Mobile taking place in Milan every April, together with the biennial Euroluce Workplace3.0 in odd years, and EuroCucina International Bathroom Exhibition in even years and the annual International Exhibition of Furnishing.

The Salone del Mobile covers an area of nearly 230,000 square meters at Fiera Milano in Rho. It represents, every year, the production of more than 2,500 companies in the world market. Over 300,000 visitors are specialized each year, of which more than 60% foreign. More than 5,000 journalists from the national and international press. About 38,000 public appearances over the weekend.

But the history of the fair is the result of a bet on the future by a group of furniture makers. The entrepreneurs of the Federlegno and Cosmit, to promote both the Italian exports, which confront the saturation of domestic demand, devised the Salone del Mobile.

After the official press conference on 25th February 1961, on 24th September of that year is inaugurated the 1st edition of the Salon in Halls 28 and 34 of the old to Fiera Campionaria.

In short the Salone del Mobile has become synonymous with success and guarantee uninterrupted.

1965 was the year of change because the leading companies in the furniture sector are grouped together in Hall 30/3. In the first 4 years, the event grows and the number of visitors both as participation of Italian and foreign operators with an immediate commercial success. The export passes from 5.837 billion lire in 1960 to about 16 billion in 1964.

The 1967 and 1968 were the boom years of the event. The higher is the interest that the sensitivity of the public to take care of their own home. This corresponds, by companies, the development of technological research in new materials applications.

At the Salone del Mobile, become “international” are strategically placed side by side other 6 exhibitions. In 1974 was born Eurocucina, which is followed in 1976 Euroluce.

In 1982 Eimu is launched, an event dedicated to work spaces, which in 2008 became SaloneUfficio.

In 1989, it states the International Exhibition of Furnishing that complements the home furnishing framework. In 1998, it is the turn of SaloneSatellite, the springboard for young designers.

Finally in 2006 was born the International Bathroom Exhibition, held every two years, which is in tandem with EuroCucina.

Today the Salone del Mobile of Milan is a specialized trade fair but heterogeneous, symbol of a whole way of working and interpreting modern industry.

The growth and success of the Salone were then also strengthened by the process of internationalization. In 2005, the show is in New York and Moscow with the Saloni WorldWide and, in 2016, in Shanghai.
